Senior Director Retail Product Development

The Senior Director of Retail Product Development is responsible for leading the strategy, development, and execution of innovative retail products that drive revenue growth, enhance customer experience, and strengthen the company’s retail portfolio. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Retail, this role oversees the full lifecycle of product development—from concept through launch and ongoing optimization—while leading and mentoring the Director of Product Development and cross-functional teams.
This leader collaborates closely with visual merchandising, store design, retail operations, logistics team, and finance to ensure products align with brand standards, and achieve financial objectives.
Responsabilités:
Lead and inspire a team of retail product development and buying professionals
Drive vision and creative direction across product development for all retail experiences within the company retail portfolio
Ensure all products developed are designed for markets with special consideration to proper packaging design, adherence to international safety and recycling requirements and insignias
In collaboration with the SVP Retail, build exciting story-driven product assortments that positively impact sales
Manage the work flow from assortment development, product concept design, appropriate graphics resources, pre-production and production resources to ensure timely and successful development completion
Develop a portfolio of resources, (manufacturers, suppliers, distributors), that offer quality products at improved margins
Effectively build and manage relationships with IP holders regarding product assortment development through product production
Manage with a focus on expense reduction within all aspects of product development while maintaining quality, compliance and brand standards.
Develop an open-to-buy plan that builds on current successes, evaluates cash flow, balances inventory levels, and describes margin improvements whenever possible
Compétences requises :
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Product Design preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in retail product development, merchandising, or related leadership roles
Proven success managing product development teams and delivering successful retail product launches
Strong understanding of retail economics, margin management, and product lifecycle strategy
Demonstrated ability to translate IP insights into commercially successful products
Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
